Yesterday, 27 March, New York Queens Attorney Richard Brown stated that a dog was used as a “trugmule” to transport more than $1 million worth of heroin to New York.
The dogs were transported from Puerto Rico to JFKAirport in New York. The drug dealer put heroin under the dog seat and placed it with the dog in the pet box. The suspect was spotted by airport staff when he was preparing to remove the boxes from the United States Airlines shipment.
The two suspects were arrested on Sunday (26 March). One suspect, 35 years old, is named Samuel Seabrooks, resident in Bronx. The other is Betancourt-Morales, 27 years old, living in Upper New York. They were charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and second-tier fraud. Everyone's bail amounts to $500,000.
The prosecution stated that they met 24 times at an IHOP restaurant in Bronze and then took separate cars to JFK. They had a brief conversation at the American Air Package. Then Morales went into the freight building and signed for the dog. He pushed the case to the exit before being stopped by the police.
The following day, the police carefully examined the willow bars used by dogs and found 10 blocks of 6 inches long and 4 inches wide under the bottom. It's also marked with Nike and a pentacle. A total of 10 kg of heroin was found by the police at a market value of over $1 million.
Brown stated that if convicted, both suspects would face up to 20 years in prison. They had previously trafficked a lot of heroin in New York, resulting in the spread of heroin to five districts. In his statement, Brown said, “Unfortunately, heroin has come to New York City again. If drug users take it in large quantities, it leads to death.
