A Keynesian man allegedly tried to drive across a flood-inundated dyke in the Acher River, after which three policemen rescued two five-week-old dogs from a underwater vehicle.
It is reported that when Aaron Dew tried to cross the road closures and flood signs without regard, the embankment was about a metre underwater.
Mr. Lou, 31, was able to swim from his car to the north of the river, but two pups were trapped in the hood of the car.
Ben Lloyd, a senior police officer, was able to recover two of the stranded cubs by walking in water at chest height and moving rapidly.

Some time later, Mr. Dew was found south of the river and told that he had been arrested.
The Cairns District Court was told that Mr. Dew had allegedly tried to escape the police and then jumped into the river where the flooding was taking place.
The senior police prosecutor, Amy Rennie, said that Sergeant David McCarthy and senior police officer Gary Allen followed him because they feared for his safety and rescued the man from the roaring river Acher.
Mr Const. Rennie objected to bail, arguing that Mr. Dew “had not previously complied with bail conditions”.
"I think he will continue to commit further crimes," Const. Rene said.
Linda Cho, a Queensland legal aid lawyer, argued that her client had not thought of water as deep.

The court was informed that Mr. Dew might contest the allegations of serious obstruction.
Magistrate Alan Comans refused bail and agreed to charge Mr. Dew.
Mr. Dew was charged with driving without licence on 18 and 19 February, seriously obstructing the police, in addition to the lack of insurance and registration for driving, the failure to observe regulations when driving, and the offences of entering the house, vandalism and theft.
