More than 1,500 dogs live in deplorable conditions in the heartland of Taiwon, Shanxi province. Owing to a lack of food and medicines, there have been mass deaths of stray dogs and even dogs. Currently, staff and volunteers are gathering materials around to improve the living conditions of over 1,000 existing dogs.
Homes of stray dogs, the only rescue facility in the city of Taiwon that can accommodate stray dogs and be built by private dogs themselves, are currently facing difficulties. Although volunteers and volunteers from all sectors of society come to help with care every day, many dogs, especially young ones, are dying in almost 10 cases a day, in the absence of medicines.
In May 2012, the new Taiwon City Dog Management Ordinance, adopted by the Taiwon City Standing Committee, was enacted. As soon as the “dog ban” was issued, there was an immediate controversy in Taiwon City. At the same time, the public security authorities have also begun operations to capture stray dogs in the streets and alleys.

According to the volunteers of the beloved homeland, since the issuance of the “No Dog Order”, this place has become a canine station set up by the public security authorities. Every day, stray dogs are brought here, for only four months, from the initial 600 to over 2,000.
The immediate problem with the dramatic increase in numbers is the lack of adequate dog houses, inadequate food and insufficient medicines. Journalists saw at the scene that many of the dog houses had to be merged, and dozens of dogs were kept inside, and incidents of fighting between dogs occurred.
Entering the kitchen at the corner of the loving home, the staff were cooking for the dogs. All they see is flour and corn paste mixed into buns, fertilized and shredded, then added to the boiled chicken bones, bone soup, etc.
The volunteer highlighted that, because of the stress on flour, the dogs were able to eat only one meal a day, most of which was inadequate. But that's it. A dozen bags of flour are consumed every day.
In the health centres, volunteers are busy working on medicines. Upon enquiry, we learned that more than 2,000 dogs were vaccinated and treated, and they received hundreds of shots per day on average. However, due to the acute shortage of medicines, many dogs do not receive timely and effective treatment.
"This is a vicious circle." Light tells us that the dramatic increase in the number of dogs has resulted in a severe shortage of supplies, and that the lack of access to medicines has contributed to the physical quality of the dogs and the inability to cope with the disease. Added to the complication caused by space stress, dogs from different environments carry different strains to create cross-infections, and many do dogs are unable to treat death effectively when they become ill.
“There are now no veterinarians, there are occasional medical volunteers, and we usually do it ourselves.” According to the volunteer Lions, this increasingly serious situation has begun to cause massive deaths of dogs, especially young ones. Between the beginning of August and now, more than 240 dogs have died, up to 20 a day.
In the course of the interview, the journalist and the volunteer went around the field only one week and found four dead dogs. And out of 2,000 dogs on the scene, the disease, the wounds, were all over the place. Most surprisingly, volunteers found blood-stained “half dogs” in the grass. The dog, which has been apparently a pup dog, has been fed only two legs and one tail. In this context, the veterans' volunteers did not say anything but lamented.
“We suddenly increased so many dogs that we did not get a single sum of money. Food comes mainly from dog-loved entrepreneurs and volunteers, while daily care is done exclusively by volunteers. Lack of funding is the biggest problem.” Let's be clear.
