A recent decision by a judge in the province of Bethey ruled that a dog that attacked another dog was dangerous and required euthanasia.
On 1 January this year, in Peachland, two dogs without a chain attacked another puppy and punctured his lungs.
The injured Lhasa dog, named Charley, died later that day.
Judge Anne Wallace ruled that both the dogs involved in the attack were dangerous, but that only one Presa Canario, named Jake, needed euthanasia.
She said that Jake was a serious threat to other dogs, and that if it was around other dogs without restriction, it would seriously hurt or even kill them.
The only way to stop it was by euthanasia.
She also stated that another dog, Buddy, who was involved in the attack, could return to the owner, including through dog training, if several conditions were met.
