On 17 August, a surveillance video of the incident revealed that a woman was walking a Samoye (white dog) in the street on 17 August at approximately 17:17 a.m. in the town of almonds in the Sud district of Foshan, Guangdong. Then the big white dog saw another dog, untraced, running for it, and the woman couldn't hold it. A few seconds later, two dogs were on their way, and a white dog was tripped to the ground with a towed rope. Officials in Almond Town informed the media that the elderly had died after medical evacuation and that the family and dog owners were communicating. On the afternoon of 18 August, staff of the Almond Town People ' s Office and the Almond Town Community Residents Committee informed the media that the matter had been brought to the attention of the police and that local police stations had intervened in the investigation. The woman, who was only 12 years old (under age) and was not the owner of the dog, took her dog out of the house without her consent, which caused the tragedy.
Eventually, the police preliminarily judged that the old man had been tripped to death by a dog rope to be an accident, and there were a number of netizens who agreed with this finding and some who had different opinions.
The families of the elderly do not hold the little girl accountable.
In the afternoon of 18 August, an old man who had died unfortunately had a funeral, and the matter was dealt with later that night. Several local residents said that the families of the elderly had not held them accountable, given the economic difficulties of both the girls ' home and the dog owner. Luo Xuyang, the father of the little girl, also claimed that his family had not lost money.
The family of the elderly, on the other hand, did not contest the determination of the incident, and the three parties concerned would negotiate the results with the involvement of the police and the relevant authorities on matters such as compensation.

However, the family of the elderly person, Maki, who died, declined the media interview. According to the local population, there are three sons and two daughters, and family conditions are good, and many of them have decent jobs. After the incident, Maki was cremated shortly after and was given a funeral in the afternoon of 18 August, after which the matter was dealt with.
