In order to better resolve the dispute and to dispel the confusion between the parties, Judge Liu, after searching for it and after repeated confirmation by the canine management of the public security organs, learned that the two Starford dogs had remained in good condition for several months, without signs of rabies.
He then contacted the local health department and received written responses from the department, identifying signs of rabies virus outbreaks, latent patterns and methods of identification, and understanding that only the long-spring veterinary institute was currently able to carry the virus, and that a “causal” dog neuropsychiatry was required to complete the test.
After full access to the relevant information, Judge Liu had explained the circumstances to the parties, who, after consideration, had agreed to a conciliation agreement that four of the six pigs would be held in ownership and that Wang would be compensated at a price of $11 per pound.
With the assistance of the local fire brigade, a small unit was formed on an ad hoc basis to weigh the pigs head by head, determine the number of pounds and complete delivery on the spot. The case was resolved on the merits when Zhang calculated that he was required to pay compensation of over $15,000.
The judge advised that the obligation to raise strong, large dogs should be strictly observed.
