Two hundred birds, including ducks, died in unknown circumstances — at the end of February 2016, there were successive instances of domestic animals being bitten to death in the towns of Shunhashi, Shanghai Pu. On 1 June, it was learned from Podong Forest Station that unidentified animals had returned to commit a crime under surveillance and that the perpetrators were not expected to be two dogs.
The killer doesn't eat meat.
As previously reported by the media, at the end of February 2016, there were a succession of deaths of small animals raised by residents in their homes in the towns of Tsangbashi and Tsang Sa, Shanghai, and a combined total of about 200 chickens and rabbits. The scene was full of feathers and even the whole piece of meat fell on the ground. In addition, the site fence collapsed, and there was a football-sized hole on the fishing net, suspected of being invaded by unknown animals and torn to death.
The nearby villagers revealed that unknown animals usually arrive at night, often gnawing at least two to three wounds in the back and buttocks of the home bird, sucking blood without eating meat.
“On the first night, 30 chickens and 6 rabbits were bitten, and after three or four days, 14 rabbits were bitten.” Uncle Zhang raised 30 chickens and 20 rabbits in his own yard in the town of Ombashi, but in two nights, not all of them were bitten to death.

The village council reflected the above to the Pudong Forest Station and the staff came to see it. Based on the evidence of the bites of poultry at the scene and the traces left at the scene, the staff determined that the perpetrators might have been unidentified animals who had previously been bitten successively in the village of Yashio, Tambashi town.
According to the forest station staff in Pudong District, an unknown animal is likely to re-offend, and seven live chickens are bought to feed in the chicken coop, a trap is installed, seven trappers are laid on the door and fenced around, as well as several infrared night monitors.
At about 2:30 a.m. on 17 May, the unidentified animals appeared again. Surveillance footage shows two big dogs. They then entered the trap net and attacked the live chicken inside. When they were preparing to attack several other live birds, they discovered that they were surrounded by fences, and then they were madly biting the fences, with a strong bite effect that caused the grape racks around them to shake sharply. In the end, they cut the fence and fled.
Set up an agency to catch the real killer.
The Chief of the Integrated Law Enforcement Section of the Pudong New District Forest Station, Gu Jianming, designed a trap cage of 1.2 metres high, 1.1 metres wide and 2 metres long to catch the “ghost” as soon as possible, was placed near the chicken coop. “There are organs in iron cages that cannot escape as soon as they touch them.”
One of the big black dogs was captured on the night of 31 May.
The surveillance shows that the big dog bites the poultry, first at the hip and then ate blood. So all the poultry bodies found this morning were dry. Another “killer” who escaped, Pudong Forest Station, used the captured big black dog as bait to lure his “companion” into the net.
Why doesn't a big dog eat meat?
Guo Jianming explained: “The dog caught may be a long-term stray dog, with no fixed source of food, usually relying on instincts to find food, and blood addiction is animal nature.” Of course, it does not rule out the possibility that the big black dog caught was a dog. Guo Jianming stated that the town of Shinhashi had carried out a large demolition and, in the process, if the dog was abandoned, it was likely that the target would be placed on the poultry.
