Earlier, several pet dog owners were walking dogs in an open plaza in the Quiwan district of Guangdong City. Soon after, the dogs showed symptoms of vomiting, spitting on their mouths, convulsions and incontinence, ranging from less than 20 minutes before and after death to suspected poisoning.
Staff from the Rainbow Street Office in the Bay area visited the site and found suspected toxic food in several places in the square pastures. The site was then cleared and eliminated by staff. Staff from the relevant departments patrolled the site and no further pet poisoning occurred. An investigation has been opened at the Rainbow Police Station of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau, the Kiwan Bay Division.
In response, Chen Yi Cai, Vice-President of the Animal Hospital of the University of Agriculture of China, stated that the poisoning incident was due to the low probability of inhalation of toxic substances, which were mostly carried out in rats, and that some of the people who injected the poison would have chosen different side effects for poisoning. The intake and the time and manner of absorption lead to the death of the dog.
According to counsel, the placement of non-toxic substances in the human body could lead to criminal liability if the victim was hospitalized or died as a result of the poisoning of the pet. There is a large number of convictions for intentional destruction of property, ranging from $100,000 in developed regions to $50,000 in other regions.
