According to the U.S. Metropolitan News, the owner of the dog Bailey had recently been diagnosed with incurable diseases and had to go to New York from Minnesota to receive medical treatment and prepare to live in the care of his companions. The unnamed owner wanted to take Bailey with him, but Bailey was banned from the airport because of his physical and mental health problems, so Ryan Chukuske decided to take Bailey to the mountain for 1,500 kilometres to join his owner. Chukuske collaborated with the Last Canine Rescue Rescue Team, and his wife Megan Giesen conducted a GoFundme programme to assist in the payment of minor car rentals, fuel, hotel restaurant and round-trip tickets, which Chukuske actively offered to pay for himself. On the GoFundMe page, Giesen wrote: “International Airlines refused to let Bailey board with the owner, but at the end of their lives they had a long-term meaning for each other, so Ryan decided to drive Bailey from Minnesota to New York to bring them together.”
Chukuske has shown that he was “decisive” in making this decision, because his philosophy of life means being nice to others. She said, “I just feel that at the deepest end of a person's life, he deserves everything better. So if he feels it's crucial to stay with his dog at the last minute, then I'll help him keep it." On this Sunday, Chukuske posted an update on his Facebook, saying, “Thank you for your love and application of Bailey and me, and I feel fortunate to be reunited with this brave dog and its owner at a time when my gratitude is indescribable. Be good to others, my friends!” But he did not show whether he had finished his journey long ago and brought Bailey with him.
