On 4 August, it was reported that a British woman, Sheridan, had moved home after breaking up with her boyfriend, abandoned two pet dogs and locked them in the kitchen. Without food and water, two dogs starved to death. Sheridan then simply left the body in a dump in the backyard. Two cats were abandoned, but the cat survived.
She was given a suspended sentence of 18 months on suspicion of abuse of animals.
