Kopp: The child was bitten by a dog. Parents need to remember these three urgent treatments

“In 2019, my mother sent her children to kindergarten, and a few old men stopped the road without a rope and a dog, and called on them to keep them from doing so. Moreover, after that day, they blocked my mother's path every day with an untie dog, and saw her come together to point the finger, so that my mother had to walk around with her child and leave the garage for a year.”

This year, again, in Anhuizhou, on 3 November, when a mother, with a 4-year-old son, went shopping in the city, passing by a dog lying on the sidewalk, the dog who was untied and without a holster suddenly broke up and ran straight towards the boy, biting hard on the head and face, and the mother couldn't stop it, and the dog who was biting died the day after it had been contained, and the dog's whereabouts were unknown.

In recent years, news of dog bites against the child has spread. Last May, a 5-year-old boy in Shaanxi Elin was bitten by a big dog with blood on his face, and his father took the child barefoot to the county hospital, where he was told that the conditions were valid and could not be cured.

After that, with the help of the traffic police, the children were taken to the city hospital for first aid without hindrance, at which point the blood on their faces was condensed into blood and, fortunately, their lives were in danger.

Last year, however, the young boys in the city of Henan Tsukiyama were less fortunate, according to official tweets from the Red Flag police station of the local Public Security Bureau: On 15 December 2020, a child was reported to have been bitten by a dog in the village of Yanjiang after the town of Shifu in the hill town, possibly dead. Upon taking over the police, the civilian police officers of the Shilin town police station of the Mount City Police Department of the Tsuruji city police station immediately arrived at the scene and confirmed by 120 medical personnel that the child had no vital signs.

Dogs have always been known as humanity's most faithful friends and are popular with many adults and children, but these shocking cases tell us that both pet dogs and dogs are dangerous and even endanger the physical safety of children.

Here, too, the dog-lovers are called upon to walk with a leash, especially those big, aggressive dogs who may feel uncomfortable, but which is the best protection for passers-by and the dog itself. Instead of regret after what has happened, guard against what We have to do, so that we may put an end to it.

What if the baby happens to be bit by a dog? Don't panic, these three urgent approaches must be kept in mind.

One is to wash the wounds in time.

When the child is bitten, it must first use soap water (or other weak alkaline detergents) and liquid water under some pressure (e.g. piped water), which in turn wash the wound thoroughly for about 15 minutes, then wash it several times with physical salt water to prevent the various washing agents from remaining in the wound.

The second is to disinfect the wound.

After cleaning the wound, the wound is carefully dried with a clean cotton ball and then disinfected with alcohol or iodine volts.

It is important to remind parents not to rush to wrap up the wound, which would prevent doctors from judging the condition of the wound in the first time, and not to try to suck the wound with their mouths, which may cause infection, since there are more bacteria in the human cavity.

The third is rabies.

After the wounds have been cleaned and disinfected, the child is taken to hospital or to the local CDC for rabies as soon as possible. If the injury is serious, it is recommended that rabies serum or rabies immunoglobins be administered in accordance with medical instructions.

Some parents might think that if the dog had all the vaccines, wouldn't it be necessary to give the baby rabies? Indeed, domestic studies have shown that the protection of rabies for animals is not very effective. Overall, only about 70 per cent. The human rabies vaccine has a very good protective effect, with a rate of >99.99 per cent, which is almost 100 per cent.
