Following a diagnosis by the veterinary team of the Taiwan Animal Emergency Team, it was stated that the injured dog was a 4-year-old dog weighing 16 kg, and that he had been caught in two parts of his left leg when he arrived in the hospital. His muscles had been blackened to death and had been exposed to white bones; in order to avoid infection causing sepsis, amputations had been performed quickly to save his life.
Dogs are now receiving medical care.
According to the Taiwan Operation Security Act, the arbitrary use, sale or manufacture of a catcher is illegal and can be punished with a penalty of between $15,000 and $75,000 in new Taiwan dollars. The public is advised not to try to do so; if a person is found to have used a catcher, he may also report to the Security Department.
