Many swimmers have come to the river side to swim for the summer and four or five others have taken the dog to the river for a bath. As the place where the dogs are bathed is adjacent to the water intake of the East River water plant, citizens fear contamination of water quality.

On 12 June, at 1700 hours, a reporter from the Sunyang evening newspaper came to the Yangtze border and looked forward to being a swimmer. A young woman went to the water and jumped into the water, a little soaked and went ashore and said, "It's cooler!" The citizen Zhang told the journalist that “the swimming pool in the city is too small for swimmers to be able to “fist”. It's better to swim in the Yangtze. It's a great relief." In interviews with journalists, it became clear that most swimmers were “two head” in the morning at 6 a.m. or 5 p.m. or 6 p.m.
Not only are people having fun, but some citizens bring pet dogs to make fun of themselves. One girl, who looked like a student, walked to the shore, held his dog in cold hands and threw it at the people of the river. She was frightened and caught in the swimming circle of a child. Journalists also found that civilians on the shore were bathing their dogs, resulting in a large number of soap bubbles being mixed into the river, and that some were moving directly towards the water intake of the East River Water Plant. Mr. Liu said to the press: “It is disgusting to think that daily drinking water is water for people and dogs to bathe.”

Subsequently, journalists arrived at the Hedong Water Plant, where a staff member who did not wish to reveal his name indicated that the flow of the Yangtze water was 40,000 cubic metres per second, a figure that suggested that the Yangtze water was more self-purified. In general, large amounts of sewage are not allowed up to 1,000 metres upstream and down 100 metres downstream, especially to prevent contamination by the highly toxic industry. However, humans and dogs swimming in the river do not meet the conditions for polluting water quality at all.
Staff also told journalists that the citizens did not fear that swimming in the river would affect the quality of running water. They were described as testing water quality every morning at 8 a.m., including on holidays. In addition, all piped water is monitored by a biological early warning system, and when toxic and hazardous substances appear in the piped water, they appear in a biological early warning system and are processed by staff in a timely manner. However, access to piped water is subject to multiple procedures such as deposition, filtering and disinfection.
At the same time, staff suggested that it would be preferable for citizens not to swim along the river. There are not a few cases of annual drowning in the Yangtze. If you really want to swim in the river, it would be better to have a couple of people who are familiar with the water and bring the swimming ring and the life jacket, just in case.
