According to a summer rain presentation by the Chief Researcher of the Shanghai Institute for Industrial Transformation and Development, the report covers the business practices of 16 conventional pet consumption lines in Shanghai, including pet shops, pet hospitals, pet funerals, pet stores, pet theme parks, pet pharmacies, pet consignments, pet clothing, pet photography, etc. A total of 4153 businesses were visited. Of these, 74.81 per cent were pet shops, 14.74 per cent were pet hospitals, 3.76 per cent were pet funerals, 1.78 per cent were pet stores, 1.81 per cent were pets and 3.11 per cent were others.

The report concludes that the number of businesses operating under the pet consumption line is positively related to location and population. In the case of the three largest population areas of Shanghai, the Pudong New Zone, the Penang Zone and the Peak Mountain Region, the number of pets consumed was also the highest, accounting for 19.7 per cent, 12.4 per cent and 10.3 per cent of the total city of Shanghai, respectively; at the same time, the concentration of consumption under the pet line showed a gradual decline from the centre to the centre of the city, where only 4.6 per cent of the city was covered by the seven central areas of Jian An, Huang Po, Puta, Yong-in, Ionguchi, Tsui Hao and Yang Po, while the consumption under the pet line accounted for 32.4 per cent of the total city of Shanghai.

Since pet consumption is clearly regional, proximate and day-to-day, Shanghai Towns and Streets are considered to have a relatively balanced distribution of business practices under the pet consumption line. The town of Po Mountain, which is often inhabited by more than 400,000 people, is the “popular town” of Shanghai, which also has the largest number of businesses operating under the pet consumption line.

Although it is pet consumption, the purchaser is the human being, and lastly it is promoting human consumption. As a result, “per capita consumption” of the four service-types of pet shops, pet hospitals, pet burials and pet photography was also mapped. The survey found that the average “per capita consumption” of pet shops was 431, the average for pet hospitals was $384, the average for pet photography was $782 and the average for pet burials was $816. It shows that pet consumption is an important aspect of social consumption and reflects the fact that the country ' s pet economy is still in the early and medium-term stages of development, and that the relevant legal and regulatory systems, particularly in terms of the price of services, standards of services, etc., are not yet fully developed and need to be guided and regulated.
