Summer rushes travel with pets

With the development of society and the improvement of people ' s living standards, pet farming has become an option for a growing number of families. Pets are not just partners in people's lives, they're emotional. The need to travel with pets is also increasing during the summer season.

On 24 July, after the “boarding” of the pets on a sea flight in Sian, the crew checked the pet information and reassured the pets who had just boarded the plane.

On 24 July, 50 lovers and 26 spoilers arrived at Sian airport and flew by sea from Sien to Kunming. This is a “chartered” flight for pets that allows masters to enter the cabin with their pets and accompany each other during flight. Except for the charter parties and the airline staff, there were no other shuttles on the flights.

On 24 July, passengers on a pet charter arrived at Sian airport in a bus with their pets.

Before entering the terminal, the pets were put on specially made pet paper diapers and placed in an aviation box. Depending on the size of each pet, there are five types of airbox available to ensure that pets are able to stand and lie more freely in the aircraft. The largest airbox was over 1 metre in length and 70 cm in width and height.

Before passengers enter the terminal, the pets will be loaded into aeroplane boxes as required, and the dog who likes to make a sound, the owner will put a bra on them.

In view of the security concerns, the outer section of the airbox is covered with a web pocket to prevent pets from moving out of the cage into and out of the plane. In flight, masters are not allowed to open pet boxes at will.

Within the terminal, passengers on pet charters also have exclusive access to sign-ins, service and security areas. Here, the pet owner is required to provide materials such as a medical certificate for the pet at the on-call counter in order to obtain a boarding pass.

Prior to entering the screening area, the security staff carefully checked the manifest for each passenger with a pet.

The same material as the usual pet cabin accompanying, including health certificate reports such as vaccination certificates and Quarantine Quarantine Quality Certificates, are available during the validity period. Not only that, but the masters also have to do a thorough physical clean-up for the pets. However, the preparation material for the pet cabin is slightly different from the one used by the different divisions, and prior confirmation with the Division is required.

Passengers carrying pets are on board at the on-board counter and staff members are required to certify pets for animal quarantine and vaccine certification before issuing boarding passes.

Smaller pets, accompanied by the master, are checked and boarded. Large pets are transported by staff to the excess baggage security office, where they are moved to the aircraft and placed in the cabin.

Small pet dogs pass through airport security checks with their owners through specially set security areas.

Following security checks, staff members accompany passengers on charter flights with their pets to their exclusive terminal areas.

In the air, the flight manager and her team were busy, checking each aviation box and the pet inside, confirming the pet information and ensuring that the pet was comfortable and safe to fly. From the confirmation of the number of passengers to the security of navigation and the cleaning of the terminal, every link is carefully considered.

They also need to coordinate the seating of pets as much as possible so that they can stay close to their owners and avoid isolated anxiety.

On the aircraft, large dogs occupy three seats in the same row, while small dogs enjoy intimate travel experience with their owners.

Ms. Lee and her mother took two dogs — Happy and Lucky — on this charter flight. “At the end of the day, we would go to Beijing or Shanghai to take a pet charter, and this time we could take a pet charter from Xian.” Ms. Lee said. In order to help the dogs adapt early to the airbox environment, Ms. Lee placed the airbox on her bed a week earlier to sleep with the dog so that they could become accustomed to it, without feeling nervous on the plane.

On the plane, a dog called the meat bag was wearing a “four-barled uniform”, which seemed very spiritual. Its owner said, “This is the first time that a meat bag is flying, and it's very dependent on me.” The whole flight takes time to see the owner. Whenever the master leaves the sight, it makes a low sound.

Currently, the main mode of flight transport for small domestic animals remains random consignments, i.e., the loading of pets in aerobic boxes, packed in aerobic compartments of the aircraft to follow the owner to the destination.

Compared to traditional pet shipping services, pet charter flights allow pets to enter the cabin directly, in the same room as the owner. Such an arrangement would significantly reduce the risk of inappropriateness and risk to pets during travel, such as shock, stress and even accidental injury to pets during shipment.

As aviation services have increased, some airlines have introduced pet-class passenger services. However, this service allows passengers to carry only one small pet (capable of placing the pet box under the front seat).

Pet charter flights allow more large pets to enter the cabin. The three largest pet objects on this flight weigh more than 45 kg. They can explore the world with their masters and enjoy the pleasure of travelling.

When the plane slowly landed in Kunming, the staff was once again busy, helping the dog owners to take their pets off the plane. Those large dogs in box 5 are taken through the hatch and on a secure underground lift.

At Kunming Airport, when all the pets got off the plane, the staff completely wiped out the cabin.

During the passage of the flight, the crew not only completely extinguished the cabin, but also carried out detailed cleaning work, including deworming, hair removal, deodorant, etc., to ensure that passengers on the follow-up flight enjoyed a fresh and comfortable flight environment.
