A herd of earthed goats gnawing for food, eating fresh leaves and grass, drinking clear springs and breathing fresh air... This is the day-to-day view of the development of alpine eco-herding goats in the village of the chicken plume of the town of Hoangyang, in the city of Huaichi, Hunan province. Through four years of hard-working farming, the farmer Shu Xiaomei has not only grown wealth but has also explored a green development path of ecological farming in harmony with nature.
“The goats we have here are all native earthy varieties, and they feed themselves in the mountains during the day, and come back at night to rest, never feed, and the flesh is strong, the mouth is tender, and the greatest can grow up to 80 pounds.” Shu Xiaomei looks to the future with the young sheep, “More than 200 goats are currently on the farm, with more than 20 pounds of wool sold, and more than 300 more in the second half of the year”.
The goat farm of Shu Xiaomei is built in the middle of the woods, the field is wooded, the floor is open, the herd's excrement is leaked down through a suture, then fermented into natural organic fertilizer, which is then sold to surrounding growers and recycled. "It keeps the sheep fence clean and it turns into a treasure." Shu Xiaomei introduced.
Four years ago, Shu Xiaomei and her husband found their home country in a good ecological environment and decided to try goat farming. With the support and technical guidance of the village policy, they have gradually expanded and are now small and well-known local farmers. Despite the relatively difficult living conditions in the mountains, they enjoy: “Despite their hard work, they look at the flock growing up every day and at the increasing number of clients, especially in their hearts”.
Thanks to its ecological practices and excellent meat, Shu Xiaomei ' s farm has attracted a large number of retrogressors, mainly from older customers. Today, she stands on this green mountain, with her flock each day and reaps hope. “As long as ecological farming continues, the mountain goats will certainly be able to make a bigger name for themselves, so that more people can taste the good taste in our mountain.” Shu Xiaomei says.
