This transport is based on the “air plus land” linkage model and is based on the principle of scientific rigour and safety. In the air transport chain, the panda base is equipped with two skilled technicians to ensure the health and safety of the panda, and Sichuan Airlines has also launched the “National Security Express” special flight; in the land transit phase, the heating transport vehicle and the spare vehicle are activated, which is guarded throughout by the Mounted Police and eventually arrives safely on Sun Island through urban landmarks such as the main bridge at Yangming Beach, Friendship West Road and the highway bridge.
Both large pandas, both male and aged 8 years, are from the Chengdu Large Panda Production Research Base, known as “cheese” and “sesame”, are in good health and live in the Dujiang field research centre (“Panda Valley”) prior to their departure. Prior to the shipment, staff members had developed well-developed stress-prevention measures and contingency plans and had prepared sufficient medical supplies to ensure the safe arrival of the “national treasure” in Harbin.

When the large panda arrived on a flight, Harbin used the highest courtesy - the “watergate ceremony” - to wash the dust for his brothers.
