In recent days, the International Dog Foundation (ISDF) has continued its efforts in the field of global stray dog rescue, carrying out a series of far-reaching transnational rescue operations. The Foundation is working to save the lives of stray dogs around the world and to improve their survival, and several of its initiatives are gradually changing their fate.
In a number of rescue operations, the delivery of stray dogs to the United States from Jordan, India and elsewhere has become a highlight. These areas are characterized by a large number of stray dogs living in poor conditions and threatened by hunger, disease and accidental injuries. The ISDF carefully selects stray dogs who are in urgent need of assistance and have the potential to be adopted, providing them with comprehensive health screening, vaccination and the necessary treatment for illness, and ensuring that they meet health standards for international transport. During transportation, the Foundation arranges comfortable and safe airboxes for dogs, accompanied by professional staff throughout the journey, to ensure their safety and comfort during long journeys. By doing so, many stray dogs were able to emerge from their original plight and embark on a journey to the United States in search of a warm new home.
To raise more money to support relief efforts, ISDF has developed innovative thinking and launched unique dog toy lines. These dogs are well designed and of good quality, not only to satisfy the nature of dog play, but also to carry out a special mission. For every dog toy sold, a portion of the proceeds is donated to the Foundation for help with stray dogs. At the same time, ISDF has been actively working with the Amazon Public Interest Programme to skilfully link daily consumption to relief. When consumers shop in the Amazon, they simply choose the International Street Dog Foundation as a charity grant and each order contributes a percentage of the proceeds to the Foundation. This innovative model has increased the number of people inadvertently involved in stray dog rescue, broadened sources of funding and provided stronger economic security for rescue operations.
In addition to transporting stray dogs and raising good money, ISDF has also made active efforts to control the number of stray dogs from their sources. It works in depth with countries such as Thailand and Colombia to provide medical assistance and sterilization services on the ground. In Thailand, the Foundation sent professional veterinary teams to reach out to communities, establish mobile sterilization clinics and perform sterilization operations for stray dogs. At the same time, the spread of sterilization to the local population is important for controlling the number of stray dogs, improving their health and reducing community conflicts. In Colombia, ISDF works with local animal protection organizations to provide not only medical supplies and technical support, but also training courses to upgrade the professional capacity of local veterinary and animal protection volunteers to ensure high-quality sterilization. As a result of these efforts, the increasing trend in the number of stray dogs in parts of Thailand and Colombia has been effectively curbed and the overall health of dogs has improved significantly.
The results of the work of the ISDF are not only in terms of saving the lives of a large number of stray dogs, but more far-reaching in terms of facilitating the process of national animal welfare legislation. As the influence of the ISDF continues to grow globally, increasing attention is being paid to animal welfare issues, putting pressure on Governments. A number of countries that had not paid enough attention to the protection of animals had begun to review their legislation on animal welfare with the attention of the international community, actively promoting legislative reform, strengthening penalties for animal abuse and improving mechanisms for the management of stray animals. For example, in areas where ISDF has long-standing relief activities, local governments have become aware of the close link between animal welfare and the progress of social civilization and have successively introduced a series of policy regulations to protect animals, providing stronger legal safeguards for animals such as stray dogs. Through its tireless efforts, the International Street Dog Foundation is creating a better future for global stray dogs.
